For over a century, Hackney Empire has been the home of comedy and popular entertainment. In 2012 it will celebrate the 66 years of comedy between the 1948 and the 2012 Olympic Games with a series of performances that showcase the most exciting eras of British Comedy and the stars that have kept us laughing over those years.
Britain’s top LGBT comics celebrate over half a century of Gaiety, paying tribute to stars such as John Inman, Danny La Rue and Larry Grayson. Featuring footage from the BFI television and film archive, plus a fabulous drag chorus line and show-stopping numbers.
Hosted by Sandi Toksvig plus big name guests.

Join an array of Principal Performers from The West End including Chris Jacobsen (Jean Val Jean in Les Miserables who shared the role with John Owen Jones), Kieran Brown (Wicked), Tom Veasey,  X Factor's James Williams, Claire Marie Hall, (High School Musical and The King and I), Iwan Lewis (Legally Blonde), Ria Jones, Elizabeth Tiley, Richie Jones, Dan and Laura Curtis from The Great American Song Bookand Steve Evans with a Professional Orchestra and Cardiff's well known Choir City Voices.

The event will be raising funds for British Heart Foundation Cymru's Mending Broken Hearts Appeal. Features well known Songs from Cabaret, Miss Saigon, Evita, Love Never Dies The King and I, Fiddler on The Roof, Carousel, My Fair Lady, Wicked, Chess, Legally Blonde, Jekyll and Hyde, Ghost, Jersey Boys, Jesus Christ SuperStar and of course Les Miserables.
